Jasen and Darren
Afterschool Program
Jasen: Group Leader, Darren: Aide
Jasen with USES since 2003, Darren since 2006
In your time at USES, what has been your greatest personal achievement?
Jasen: When you see a child outside of work that you used to work with and for them to tell you all the positive things that they’re involved with and to know you were a part of that, that’s an achievement in itself.
Darren: The children can come here and while they’re here we can help them with their problems. Knowing we can help them is an achievement.
On a day-to-day basis, who or what inspires you?
Jasen: It’s the fifty-two different personalities. If you’re going through something, some kid is going to make you laugh. You can check yourself at the door because there’s so many different personalities to enjoy while you’re here.
Darren: I agree with that.
What is USES to you?
Jasen: A place where we can indirectly build the future with the things we do with the kids. It’s a place to make a better future.
Darren: It’s a place where you can see the kids improve and work on their future.
